German Shepherd Dog Sanctuary
Tax deductible
After rescuing over 800 German Shepherd Dogs from area shelters, the rescue has transitioned to more of a sanctuary. The rescue currently cares for over 40 GSDs, with the majority being seniors, long-term health issues, or behavioral concerns that make them unsafe to adopt. A majority of the GSDs rescued need some type of rehabilitation to ensure a safe adoption.
Housing long-term shepherds poses a space restraint for other shepherds in need. The rescue purchased a property in 2015 that it has quickly outgrown. As the demand on the rescue continues, it is forced to find a more suitable facility and location to accommodate such needs.
The rescue has its sights on a specific location that can accommodate long term health care, room for exercise, privacy, space to grow, and in/out kennels making it possible to hire staff to help clean kennels. The current location requires physically letting each dog outside. This poses a bite risk for those the shepherds do not know. The space allows for more time dedicated to caring and adopting dogs versus cleaning most of the day. The seniors would have a quiet area to lounge without the distraction of the young barking shepherds.
This would be our final home.
Want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money to benefit GSD Rescue/Sanctuary Indy, and any donation will help make an impact. To raise the money to purchase the specific property would be a dream come true. Please help us achieve this miracle.
