Sofia Frank : The Road to Olympics 2026

Going for Gold

Since she was 3 years old, Sofia Frank has been obsessed with becoming the best skater she can be. As a little girl in Southern California, her father would take her to skating rink and teach her the fundamentals of figure skating. Sofia loved the solitude of practice and the thrill of competition and early on, her talent and desire was evident, as she began to win local club competitions.

Over the past 16 years, Sofia has experienced the highs and lows of top level competitive figure skating, overcoming falls and defeats to continually move up the ladder of national rankings. And she hasn’t done it alone. As with most competitive skaters, her parents have provided her with their full financial and emotional support so that Sofia can realize her full potential.

Several years ago, Sofia’s family moved to
Colorado Springs, home of the
United States Olympic Committee and the nation’s top training center for aspiring
Olympic figure skaters. Since then, under
the guidance of world-renowned Olympic
team coach Tammy Gambill, Sofia’s
performance has improved by leaps and
bounds. Training with some of the world’s
best skaters, she’s learned what it takes to get to the next, world championship level.

In her very first Senior competition, Sofia
surprised many in the skating world by
defeating the Australia’s 12-time national
champion and 2018 Olympic
representative, while defeating 4 other
seasoned Team USA teammates.

As a proud carrier of a Philippines passport (her mother Precious - a former
Miss Philippines), Sofia has been recruited by Philippines Skating Union to join the
Philippine National Team with the aim of
competing in the Beijing 2022 Winter
Olympic Games. Recognizing her talent,
the PSU believes that Sofia gives them a
true shot at having the first female figure
skater representing them in the
Winter Games. This would be a true
hallmark in the Philippines history of
competing in the winter version of the
Olympics.

Sofia, her family and the PSU are truly
committed to making this happen, but it
won’t be easy. She will need to progress
through a series of international
qualifications against numerous world class figure skaters to make the cut. This will
require non stop training and international travel and the financial requirements are
significant. The Philippines’ recent success at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games was
unprecedented, but its track record in the Winter Games is limited.

As with many Olympic hopefuls, Sofia’s
success will rely on the financial and
emotional support of a broad constituency of family, friends, teammates and the
skating community. Sofia hopes to be a trailblazer for Filipino winter athletes, setting
the path for representing her country.
By succeeding in qualifying for
Beijing 2022, Sofia plans on helping other
female and male athletes from her mother country by establishing a training and
financial network to support their efforts.

But to get there, she will need additional
financial support to continue to pay for
coaches, training tools and travel. With
your help, this will be possible. Any
contribution- great or small- will make
a difference.
To support Sofia’s dream, you can make a
contribution to Go Fund Me. Your donation will be recognized by a personal letter and autographed photo from Sofia, along with
exclusive access to online updates and
videos tracking her training and
competitions on the road to Beijing 2022.

Please help Sofia and the Philippine
Olympic Team make it to the next
Winter Olympic Games 2026 at Milano Cortina and be a part of
history.
