'GOING NOWHERE' is the new mockumentary focussing on a fictional UK town called 'Stonest', Taking inspiration from The Office and This Country

 

LOGLINE:

Tasked with bringing more tourism to the Yorkshire town, a local man struggles to hold the community together as a crew documents the whole peculiar experience.

 

It's funny, familiar, comforting and lovable!

 

However, the pilot episode needs money! The goal is to hit £2500 on GoFundMe by July!

 

The Funding will go towards better locations, crew, equipment, food and drink for actors and crew, and festivals.

My name is George Walker. I am a university graduate and currently undertaking a Masters degree in Media Production. I have directed plays, music videos, short films and more. I have written a script that I am hungry to make. My rationale is that people find great comfort in comedies and sitcoms; you know the stakes are never too high or the characters in too much peril, and its just relaxing and fun to consume, I am desperate to create that sensation for people with GOING NOWHERE.

 

The key demographic is 15+ due to more adult humour, any gender, and predominantly a British audience because of the setting.

 

 

 

SYNOPSIS

Stonest is a small Yorkshire town desperate to throw off its boring reputation. Wyatt, a lovable buffoon, is the town centre officer tasked with bringing more tourism to Stonest. So he takes it upon himself to invite a documentary crew to do a piece on the community.

The story is shown through the documentary lens, seeing Wyatt promoting the town and meeting all the unique and whacky locals. Wyatt has a history of bringing the community together for his madcap schemes to gain some press; however, none have succeeded; Wyatt shows us the many failed attempts on his old VHS tapes.

As the day progresses, he becomes more desperate, as nothing he had planned is going as hoped. The stakes are getting higher with Wyatt's job now on the line and an old school bully making a reappearance. Wyatt's manic desperation leads to cringe-inducing but hilarious situations. Will Wyatt persuade the documentary crew to stay?

 

HOW IS IT GOING?

Brilliantly! I am in the preproduction phase, with a script that is funny and ready for production. Now I need to cast actors, buy props, order costumes, and make a military tight schedule for shooting.

A lot of the funding is needed for preproduction, such as booking locations, paying for travel, marketing the project and much more, so this crowdfunder is the life of the episode!

 

WHERE WILL IT BE FILMED?

I grew up with town life and this was the big insperation for me, I thought where else would be most convient for attaining locations and local extras than my home town Driffield in East Riding of Yorkshire! This is where the bulk of the pilot will be shot as the fictional town of Stonest.

 

 

 

WHEN WILL IT BE FILMED?

5 day shoot, first week of July! That gives me a month to get completely ready, and I am giddy and buzzing with passion and energy to do it! If you live around Driffield you will absolutely see us running around with cameras haha.
