Medical bills from the past year and upcoming..

Hey, I’m Dan. When I was younger, about 14 years old, I encountered some abuse and ended up with physical trauma to my left knee in which then turned into a bucket handle meniscal tear. I ended up having that fixed, and since I was younger, I was under my parents insurance so it wasn’t a huge deal.. well fast forward 15 years and I am now having problems with my right knee, long story short - with my right knee they ended up just taking most of my meniscus out because I was too old for it to regrow by itself. So with my regular monthly bills along with medical bills from hospitals, clinics and The specialty hospital that I went to it’s been a struggle. Three years after after surgery I started having problems with that same right knee. I ended up going to a specialist once again, and the only option that they gave me was a meniscus allograft transplant. For you who do not know what that is, it is a transplanted meniscus from a cadaver tissue “so a donor tissue from somebody who has passed away” So I went ahead and I had the procedure. I was out of work for roughly 3 months and then when I went back to work, I could only work for 3 to 4 hours a day for the first few weeks and I had restrictions for the first nine weeks. Ever since I had that surgery last year on May 5 we have not been able to catch up fully with medical bills.
Now fast forward to present day today November 7, 2023. I am now having serious problems with my transplant that I had done a year and a half ago. The medical facility will not have anything to do with me since I owe them debt (a pretty small amount now).
It is really hard to work everyday with this pain nagging all the time. I can’t do normal things anymore, little things such as driving a car without cruise control. The motion of keeping my foot on the gas for more than 20 minutes irritates my knee to much. I can’t go for walks with the dog anymore, I can’t walk around the mall for more than half hour without it aching. It makes work difficult, I quit my last job of almost 10 years because of this. I have given so much up already… I just want to be able to at least drive a car without suffering.
I have already maxed out my deductible from my health insurance which is about $1600. I am in collections with a few different places and it is something that I am so ashamed to admit but I see people use go fund me for a lot of different things and I finally got the courage to say screw it and try it. If you are able to donate at least a couple of dollars, I would be more than grateful in fact words couldn’t even describe how grateful I would be. Anything would help especially right now in this economy nothing is cheap you can’t even buy groceries for $20 anymore and that is with two of us working full-time, we are still struggling due to all of MY medical bills from last year… so this is me reaching out for any kind of help if you are able to. If not, it is not a big deal. I will figure it out as I always do. Thank you for taking the time and reading this and if you have any suggestions for me, I am all ears but if you have donated anything thank you so much I can’t tell you how much it means to me and I hope to God that someday I can repay the debt to the people who are able to help. so that is my story. Thank you and God bless.
I also do have cash app and Venmo if that makes it easier !
