Golden Gears #9881 Advance to World Championships
Donation protected
We are Golden Gears, a robotics team working from a home garage in La Canada and competing in the FIRST Technology Challenge (FTC) as Team #9881. We just qualified for the FTC World Championship Tournament, which will be held in Houston on April 17-20. This is a big deal for us! After four years of competing in the annual FTC challenge (funded by team parent donations), we have reached our goal of advancing to the World Championship Tournament. Please help our team members get to Houston next month.
Donations of any amount are sincerely appreciated. Raised funds will be used for transportation, lodging, competition fee, and shipping our robot. If you wish to make a tax-deductible donation, please email us at [email redacted] before you donate here. For donations of $1,000 or more, we can discuss logo placement on our robot and in our team area. Support students in engineering and science through sponsorship of our team.
We are proud to represent the La Canada community in this Tournament as the first team (public or private) to qualify for the FTC World Championship Tournament, a four-day competition which features 160 teams from over 25 states. Learn more about FIRST, this year's FTC game, and how FIRST inspires young people to develop their interests in STEM fields by designing, building, and programming their own robots: www.firstinspires.org
We competed on March 9, 2019, against 47 other teams in the Los Angeles Regional Championships for various judged awards and against 23 other teams in the robot game play. Based on our robot performance and our season-long efforts, we were awarded 3rd place Inspire (best all-around) and the Connect Award (engaging the engineering community). We are so excited with the outcome and the chance to compete in Houston next month.
Please support Golden Gears #9881 in our journey to the World Championships!
