Gone Too Soon - In Memory of Joe
Donation protected
My brother Joe passed away yesterday 5/15/20, nine days after an esophageal cancer diagnosis. He was 42 years old. He fought hard those nine days, planning to come home to his 11-year-old son Aaron on the day he passed.
Joe was a devoted single father to Aaron, who was his life. He worked hard every day to provide for his son. He wanted Aaron to have a wonderful childhood, a wonderful life.
Joe was involved with Aaron's baseball team. He was at every school performance, every parent-teacher conference. Joe and Aaron shared treasured weekends together up north. He brought their dog Jordy into their lives because, yes, Joe loved dogs - and he loved Jordy - but he also wanted Aaron to grow up with the companionship that Jordy brings.
In the last 24 hours, there has been an outpouring of tributes to my brother, by family, coworkers and friends. I knew Joe had friends - friends he called family - but, I never realized how loved he was by those friends. They have flooded his Facebook page, or reached out to me or my other two siblings Bob and Kathy personally, with memories and sympathy for our family, especially for Aaron, who lost his father, his primary caregiver, his best friend.
Joe didn't have life insurance. He spent what he earned as a Fed-Ex driver to keep a roof over their heads and provide for his son. His home was Hudson, WI, he delivered in the Twin Cities, and will be buried next to our parents in the U.P.
It is my hope to raise the funds to bring Joe back to his first home to be buried by our parents. His life, his son and so many of his friends are in the community he loved, the surrounding area, or in the cities in which he worked. Aaron would like to have a memorial for his dad here in Hudson, when we can all safely gather together to share memories. He said he knows that a lot of his dad's friends will want to share stories, but he is going speak first, because he loved his dad most.
Thank you for considering a donation. Any funds raised beyond what is needed will be placed in a trust for Aaron, so he may pursue the life his dad worked so hard to give him.
God Bless and Protect You.
