Recently a family member needed some work on their car, which I volunteered to complete for them. This family member works a fulltime job and is responsible, but money in the bank was not a luxury she had. The car needed a new rack and pinion. So I drove 2 hours to look the car over to see if it was worth fixing. And if not I would help her find a new car. The rest of the car seemed fine, no major problems, so I drove it back to my house to start working on it. On the way home the car started having a rod knock. When I pulled over to inspect, there was no oil in the crankcase. She said she had the oil changed in Jan, but the damage was done.
I put oil in it and drove the car home, barely making it. I then proceeded to look for a new car for her. I had 2 days to do it in as she was coming to stay the night and then go back home. Long story short...in those two days I found an acceptable cash price car for her to drive. We even donated her old car to the nearest junk yard, which was a good thing they took it because the motor stopped running right when we got into the parking lot of the junk yard.
The reason I started the go fund me, was to help me recover financially and the reason is because my wife has been out of work since August due to a motor car accident, so we are on one income. That same day the family member came to stay, I also had to pay 600 dollars for my dog to have surgery. She had cancer. I'm not asking for that money. Just the 3,000 dollars it cost for the car and not a penny more. I'm not asking for any profit, just what the car cost. I know the family member will make every effort to pay me back, but last I knew she only had 500 bucks in the bank total and it is hard for me to take money from her. I thought it would be a good thing for people to help me and her at the same time. Every dollar you guys donate...is one dollar less she will feel she has to pay back.
I know this sounds like a silly go fund me in comparison to some of the really needful go fund me pages on here, but if you decide to help, I sure appreciate it. And if not, that's okay to...It was worth a shot.
