Good Neighbor Fund Virtual Pancake Breakfast 2021
Hello Neighbors!
Since the mid-80's, Tolt United Church of Christ in Carnation, Washington has held a pancake breakfast along with the town’s festive 4th of July celebration. Situated right on main street (State Hwy 203) at the beginning of the parade route, Tolt is the go-to place to begin the day's celebration. As the primary source of revenue for the Tolt Good Neighbor Fund (TGNF), the breakfast has raised nearly $80,000 over 34 years and serves between 400 and 600 breakfasts annually! Each year, local businesses support the breakfast with over $1000 in cash, gift cards, and in-kind donations.
The Good Neighbor Fund, listed in the 211 helpline, is well known in the Snoqualmie Valley towns of Duvall, Carnation, Fall City, North Bend and Snoqualmie as the place where a person can receive help for gas, groceries, utilities and other small emergency needs. Once a request if made through the church office, a TGNF helper responds, arranges to meet in person, and helps as needed with small grants. We only require ID, verification (power bill, etc), and can offer this essential help every six months as needs arise.
Unfortunately, this year we will be unable to serve breakfast in the same way due to social-distancing recommendations. We are planning to serve limited take-out breakfasts on the fourth, but recognize that this alone will not be enough to meet community need. With this in mind, we are asking for your help in replenishing the Good Neighbor Fund to ensure that we are still able to help those in need in our community.
Please head to our Facebook Page and share your best pictures and memories of past years, or the stack of pancakes you eat at home! Also, please consider sharing this page with family and friends. To honor the holiday, we will be keeping this page open through July 4. Thank you so much for your continued support of our community, and we hope to see you in person next year!
Peace be with you!
