GOOD PEOPLE independent play

Support a group of NYC theater artists organizing to produce GOOD PEOPLE by David Lindsay-Abaire this December.
Set in the Boston neighborhood of Southie, Good People is a play that asks what it really means to play the cards we're dealt. It follows Margie Walsh, a cashier who’s just been let go from yet another job. Facing eviction and desperate to catch a break, she decides to hit up Mike, an old fling who’s made it out of Southie and might be her ticket to a fresh new start. But is Mike willing to reconcile his comfortable new living with his messy, working-class roots?
With his signature humorous glow, Lindsay-Abaire explores the struggles, shifting loyalties and unshakeable hopes that come with having next to nothing in America.
Performances will be held December 14th and 15th at The Barrow Group Theater.
The Barrow Group is an award-winning theatre company and training center located in the heart of New York City. Founded in 1986, TBG’s artistic programs consist of producing an annual Mainstage Season, a Developmental program that cultivates original stories and the artists who tell them, and a Training Center that supports thousands of artists from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, and experience levels, offering a robust diversity scholarship program for underserved artists.
Your contribution will help cover the costs of production, including performance and rehearsal space, props and set dressing, stage management, fight choreography, event management, and insurance.

John Toon as Mike
John is thrilled to be playing Mike in this production of GOOD PEOPLE. Hailing from Michigan, John moved to NYC to pursue acting in 2014. He has appeared in TV shows such as American Horror Story, FBI, The Equalizer, & The Plot Against America. You might have also seen him in the off-the-wall, Pooph! commercials. While mostly pursuing film, television, & commercials, John is excited to return back to the stage after a decade long absence.

Siobhan Smith as Kate
Siobhan is excited to make her theatrical debut at The Barrow Group Theater in GOOD PEOPLE. Since moving to NYC in 2014, she’s appeared in several commercials for national brands (you might remember her as your friendly Nature Made pharmacist), voiceovers, and has hosted both live and scripted events (hello QVC!). She's studied acting at The Barrow Group and when she isn’t on stage or camera, Siobhan enjoys volunteering, hiking, and finding DIY projects on Pinterest to build/knit/paint. She’d like to thank her family and friends for their continued support, and especially those who took time out to be her reader before the show

Connie Perry as Dottie
Connie is a perky woman of indeterminate age and hairstyle with a seasoned, funny take on life. As a comedy writer and performer, she was on the first season of NBC's Last Comic Standing, featured in The NYC Underground Comedy Festival, and regularly takes the stage at comedy clubs or venues to share autobiographical jokes or stories. As an improvisational actor she performs at and with NYC theaters and troupes, most recently with IRTE’s The Lonely Death of L. Harris at the Squeaky Wheel Fringe Festival. She created and hosts The CONNIE Awards: An Improv Award Show which airs monthly on www.mnn.org, or found on Tik Tok. Looking forward to bringing Dottie to life in GOOD PEOPLE, see more info by clicking to www.about.me/connie.perry

Whitney St. Ours as Jean
Whitney is an interdisciplinary artist whose career began as an actor and has expanded to include directing, writing, and visual art. She's appeared on HBO, NBC, and in national commercials. Her short film The Housesitters sold to the platform Alter in 2019 and can be viewed on their Youtube channel. She's a student of ASL, a waitress, and a Gemini.

Chris Parkin as Stevie
Chris is a NYC-based actor and singer-songwriter, and he is absolutely thrilled to be a part of this production of GOOD PEOPLE. Growing up in Falmouth, Massachusetts, he has a deep connection to Boston, and being able to step into the world of these rich and perfectly imperfect characters is truly a wonderful experience. He has studied acting at The Barrow Group, and is so grateful to be able to perform at his artistic home with such a talented cast and crew. He would like to thank his friends and family for their never ending support, and director Stacey Robinson for bringing this beautiful story to life.
