Update 2/28/24: Oscar will be released tomorrow and start the road of recovery. Our hope is a rescue can help take him once he is healed.
I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone that has donated. It is incredible to see such an outpour of love for one dog who started life off abused, but saved by two wonderful humans that have zero dog experience, but had to do something. They made sure he was vetted, neutered and trained in order to give this one, of many pitbulls available for adoption, a better chance of finding a furever family. Little did they know how hard it is to find anyone interested in adopting. Little did they know he would fall ill and need immediate emergency services. They had to do what was right and worry about how they would afford it later. That's when a friend told me to please start a GoFundMe. I was new to this idea, but felt I had to do something. Here we are 24% at goal. Amazing because of the kindness of strangers, friends and family. Thank you sincerely.
Hello, I am Patricia Rogers, a foster mom to many senior dogs and a transporter for numerous rescues. I am animal control certified as well. I am fundraising for a wonderful couple who saved a dog from abuse on November 20, 2023.
The couple are senior citizens and asked me for guidance on how to get this dog a perfect new home. This couple can't handle a 57lb 11-month-old dog but couldn't stand by and watch what was happening 2 doors from where they lived. Although they have limited income, they took my recommendation to get Oscar neutered and updated on vaccines so the chances of rehoming were better. Oscar has a dominant side, but this couple has also gotten a trainer to fix this while Oscar is still young enough and before it is a problem. Oscar is also in daycare to help socialize him.
I have been posting and hoping for Oscar to find his forever family, but it has not happened. Shelters and rescues are overcrowded, and adoptions are very slow.
Last week, Oscar started urinating blood and vomiting and without hesitation, the owners took him to Garden State Veterinary Specialist in Woodbridge. Oscar had a blockage and needed that cleared ASAP. He then had a sonogram and now surgery to biopsy the stones to determine what kind they are. The bills are now at $7500 and growing. The couple will not rehome this dog until they ensure he is cared for medically. They do not have this money, so I started a GoFundMe. I hope we can give them a blessing like the blessing they have given Oscar.
If you can find it in your heart to donate, I am happy to send proof of medical bills.
We are also praying that a rescue steps in to take Oscar and with the help of the wonderful Husky House and many friends I have in the rescue and shelter world we get him to the perfect home.
APPRECIATE A COURTESY SHARE. I met this dog, he is truly incredible. The wonderful couple that saved him from a neglect situation are his angels.
If interested in adopting, please contact me directly.
OSCAR'S BIO:
Oscar is a beautiful Brindle Mixed Breed. He is 11 months old. He has all his vaccines, he is neutered, has his Heart/Worm meds along with Flea and Tic meds.
We rescued Oscar with the intention of fostering him to ensure he goes to a good and loving forever home.
He was left alone in a backyard shed all day and night in all weather conditions. He was neglected and not being trained properly trained or cared for. The owners were trying to dump him wherever they could, we did not want him to end up in a worse situation or a junkyard.
After rescuing Oscar, we started training him to the best of our abilities (we do not have much experience with dogs but we tried. We also have him training at Doggie Day Care with an excellent trainer.
Oscar is intelligent and loves to learn, and he does well with other dogs.
He loves being with people and wants to be by your side, and his tail is wagging all of the time.
He is not a barker unless he warns you about something and sleeps very well through the night.
We want Oscar to go to a loving, caring, and younger family because this is what Oscar deserves.
Thank you.
