Support for Good School Farm after Devastating Tornado

Donation protected
To friends of Good School Farm: On July 10th, Chris Warner's farm in Arkwright, NY, faced an unimaginable tragedy. A powerful tornado tore through the property, leaving behind a path of destruction that can only be described as devastating. The cherished barn, fondly known as the "Cow Cafe," has been lost. The losses are too many to list: countless trees, the attached greenhouse, van, solar panels, garden and numerous other structures—they are no more. (Drone footage of partial damage here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnprIiuqksM)

Adding to this heartache, Chris was at Buffalo General Hospital undergoing a major heart procedure when the tornado struck. As Chris focuses on his recovery from this significant medical event, he now faces the overwhelming challenge of dealing with the aftermath of the tornado and the extensive damage to the farm. Chris is unable to participate in the clean up, and has been ordered to rest as much as possible. This means much of the work will need to be hired out or require extensive volunteer help. This truly is too much for one person to handle.

With Chris's permission, this fundraiser has been created to ask the community for support. Donations will help Chris manage the immediate needs of his recovery and the uncertain costs associated with the farm's damage, as he navigates what insurance may or may not cover. If you cannot donate, please take a few seconds to share this fundraiser.

For those of us who have been to Good School Farm, we know how special it is and how generously Chris has shared his space, building a community of farmers, musicians, artists, and friends for decades. The farm has been an educational playground for dozens of young WWOOF-ers. It has been a space for exciting culinary experiments, a musical venue where donkeys and cows provide backup vocals, a home for all who love art, and music, and the peace of existing in nature. Presently, it is impossible to say what the future holds for the farm. What is needed most now is hands on deck, and the resources for Chris to recover and figure things out.

Thank you for your support.

With heartfelt gratitude--
