Good Sh*t for Tough Times

Donation protected
To say these times are surreal is an understatement. Everyones way of living has been completely altered and that includes the way our meals are sourced.

This campaign began simply enough on social media with a post on my local civic page to see if there were any neighbors in need of a solid meal who otherwise could not get out due to a number of restrictions. I cook quite often, posting regularly on my blog titled, "Good Sh*t". I've always loved cooking for family and friends and knew there had to be others who could benefit from a hot, homemade meal. What started as a few elderly residents climbed to 15 individuals, spanning from families, individuals and healthcare workers. The total further rose to almost 30 with more healthcare workers requesting help.

My goal is to continue to utilize the skills I have to help feed those who need it most - the elderly, immune compromised and healthcare workers who stand at the forefront of this COVID19 fight.

With being immune compromised myself, I completely emphasize with those battling similar situations. Given that, I take the upmost care in preparation of meals and precautions when purchasing food. I also prioritize obtaining ingredients from locally own grocers and farmers, such as Highland Orchards here in Wilmington, DE. Ingredients are organic where possible with the majority of each meal component being made from scratch. Meals are doorstep delivered with coordination of deliveries made through phone and social media to ensure the safety of all involved. Portions are travel safe and easy to reheat in the same dish or frozen for later use.

While both my husband and I are fortunate to still be employed while many others have been laid off, supplying food for an increasing number of neighbors in need naturally incurs a financial need. Initially, I did not ask for funds at all as I do not want to burden those who are already hampered by this crisis. In order to continue supporting our neighbors in critical need, any donations of ANY amount would be appreciated. I do not want to turn away individuals due to the inability to pay for the foods required to make these meals. Several neighbors have already reached out to help financially and it has been humbling to see how many others are willing to help without even asking.

My goal remains to provide homemade meals 2-3 times a week with locally sourced, healthy ingredients to those who need it most. 100% of donations go directly to the purchases of foods to prepare meals and trays to transport and store them in. I genuinely and humbly appreciate all of your help and support and can't to give hugs to everyone once this pandemic is over.

Stay safe and eat well everyone!
