Goodbye Nashville, Hello Phoenix, NY!

As you all know by now, after just short of 40 years, I am leaving Nashvillle. Although I will continue to write for Rolling Stone and will continue to write other things as they come along, I have to make this change for many reasons, some great (like being close to my family), some not so great (my chronic pain issues). The latter is why you see the photo of the tour bus! It occurred to me that with artists and tour buses off the road, if I could use one to travel to New York it would be a more comfortable way to deal with the trip and would also be less stressful (I hope!) for Maurice and Robin, who are also about to adjust to a whole new experience!! I do have mixed feelings about even asking this but I hope perhaps there are people who might like to contribute to the trip because it is definitely not an inexpensive venture. But on January 30, 1981, I arrived in Music City on a Greyhound bus, so it would be fitting (and so much easier) to say goodbye to the city and the people I dearly love from one as well. This one’s just a little nicer. I cannot tell you how hard this is and how much I will miss each and every one of you. But I can tell you that Maurice, Robin and I are grateful to you all.
