In support of recovery from Lahaina fire 2023

Aloha to all of you on Maui and around the world whose hearts are reeling as a result of the overwhelming catastrophe that engulfed the community of Lahaina. The heartfelt support, well wishes, and love from so many of you has been overwhelming and incredibly uplifting in helping to navigate the shock of having had our business and this beautiful community decimated. Please know our gratitude to you is endless.

Our prayers and thoughts first go out to all of those who lost more than just “things” due to this tragedy. May the Lord, your O’hana, your community, and the world uplift and hold all affected with love.

Since its inception in 1994 Goofy Foot has followed one primary creed, or mantra:

Water the root, not the fruit. The essence of which is to make your work your worship and focus on giving with love, without attachment to results.

When the awareness came that all the physical things that comprised the surf school had gone up in smoke, we became immediately grateful that the focus has always been on nurturing the root, and not on the fruit. This is how the heart stays full and what can never be taken away.

We are deeply committed in our desire to perpetuate these values in business and be living examples of loving what you do and doing what you love. We want to continue to practice uplifting those we serve and the world at large.

It is with this intention in mind, as well as the overwhelming amount of encouragement we’ve received from Goofy Foot O’hana, students, employees, and friends, that we’ve decided to start a GoFundMe platform to seek support and assistance in helping Goofy Foot Surf School revive and regenerate like a Phoenix rising from the ashes. We pledge to use all donations to help rebirth the surf school and to support those individuals who are part of the Goofy Foot team that have been directly impacted by this.

One day as soon as possible we hope to reopen Goofy Foot to once again be a shining school of transformation and personal empowerment through teaching surfing.

If you feel moved to offer any assistance in this endeavor we will be forever grateful and highly anticipate surfing with you in Maui one day in future.
