Support MV GOONDOOLOO
Donation protected
The 67 year old, MV Goondooloo, the aboriginal name for "Southern Cross”, was being restored, by Tasmanians who fell in love with her from the moment they first boarded her back in 2020.
Built and launched by the Maritime Services Board of NSW in 1958 at Goat Island, the 66ft pilot cutter was the first of three of her kind with sister ships, Girralong and Goolara, being launched the following years. And is the last of the three that remain unrestored. After saving her from “Death Row” on the Tamar River works had commenced to restore her.
On the 5/2/2025 while traveling to the Australian Wooden Boat Festival Goondy started taking on water forcing her owners to abandoned ship with the help of Tasmania Police. Sadly they watched their beloved Goondy slip below the water.
