Gord Kobsar's Cancer Battle

Donation protected
My name is Oren Kobsar, and I need your help. In late May 2023, my father Gord was emergency admitted to the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon. The prognosis was not good, as it was discovered that he had a golf-ball size Cancerous Astrocytoma in his brain, located at the base of his brain stem/top of his spinal cord. The tumor was successfully removed, but he has not had a quick recovery from the surgery. He was released from Saskatoon in late-June, but he contracted meningitis and pneumonia while in a continuing care facility in Turtleford; and was rushed back to the University hospital. As of right now, he has beat the meningitis/pneumonia, and is currently undergoing surgeries this week to aid in the fluid buildup inside on his brain. Doctors are working towards getting Dad strong enough to start his chemotherapy treatments as soon as possible. At this point, it’s unclear how much chemotherapy/radiation he will have to endure. But our Dad is one tough bugger (as you may already know – lol), and I know he’s never going to give up.

His road to recovery is unclear, and we all deal with his medical outlook day-by-day. My Mom (Lorraine) has been living in the city since the end of May, trying her best to comfort Dad and keep the family informed on what’s happening. But here’s where it gets tough. Mom is struggling to not only provide for my Dad, but at his point she is struggling financially quite badly to take care of herself. She needs support from us to ease her stress, and so she can continue to be there for Dad as he fights this thing. The goal currently set is with the hope that these funds will help my Mom pay for her bills, for their home at the lake, her room in Saskatoon, her groceries, gas, parking, and all of the other expenses she has to pay for while being there with Dad. This money will also be enormous for them when Dad beats this and is allowed to come back home.

My Dad is truly one of the most amazing, one-of-a-kind human beings that we are all so profoundly lucky to have in our lives, or to have known at some point in our lives. I know for a fact that every single person who has met him has their own positive unique story to share about him. We all need him to be with us for many more years to come. Any amount of help that you can contribute will make a world of difference to my Parent’s well being and recovery during this challenging time. Please lend a hand however you can, and lets kick his cancer’s ass together.

I humbly ask that you do the following to help, if you can:
1. Please share this link to your social media (I don’t have much social media, so this would be greatly appreciated!)
2. Make a donation. (Yes, times are tough, I know. Literally NO amount is too small.)
3. Leave a note to let my Dad and the rest of our family know you are behind us during his fight.

Please continue to support Gord and our family in whatever way possible. Take the time to say a special prayer and keep him in your thoughts as he continues his battle. On behalf of his many friends and family, I sincerely thank you so very much for your support.

We love you Gord!
