Gordon Mix's TBI Recovery

Donation protected
My name is Isabelle and I am fundraising for my Uncle Gordon’s recovery. On August 16, my Uncle Gordon was driving to work on his motorcycle and was hit by a car. He was wearing a helmet and did everything that he was supposed to. He ended up in a coma, with multiple injuries; his right tibia was fractured, he had terrible lashes on his arm, and a severe brain injury (it was a diffuse axonal injury). He also battled with pneumonia and underwent several different surgeries in order to restore his body. He defied all odds by the grace of God, Uncle Gordon is now in the Atlanta, Georgia Brain Injury Rehabilitation Program at the Shepherds Center getting the care that he needs so he can return home to his loving wife, My Aunt Becky, and his two newly adopted boys, Gauge and Ryland. We are asking for any help that we can get to raise enough money for Aunt Becky, Gordon, and the Boys to get them through the expenses. It's going to take a lot to cover his medical care (which includes anything that they may need further down the road; outside of what the insurance might pay for), and allow Aunt Becky to travel back and forth to be with Gordon and their sons, along with the extensive cost for Uncle Gordon's therapy. I would like to add that we have no clue what my Uncle’s future looks like, so we are trying to raise enough money to get them through whatever difficulties they may face whether its now or at a later date. Keep in mind, once Uncle Gordon goes home, they may need to accommodate him and his needs within their home— which would be a costly adjustment. We pray that Uncle Gordon is going to come out of this the same way he went in, but we need to recognize that we cannot predict the future and must prepare accordingly. That being said we appreciate any donations sent their way and if you cannot donate for whatever reason, please at the bare minimum share the post and spread his story!!

UPDATE: 11/20/23
Uncle Gordon will be discharged to head home on December 6th. My Aunt Becky will need to install a ramp outside of their home in order to accommodate his needs. He still is not walking, moving the left side of his body or face, nor eating and he will continue to need in-home physical therapy. Please continue to pray and remember anything helps-- whether that be donating or sharing and spreading this message.
