GPA to help support our Injured Officer

Donation protected

The Greenfield Police Association (GPA) is creating this fund raiser to help with the recovery efforts for our officer and their family during their recovery process. Since the investigation is on-going and the officer's name has not yet been released we unfortunately cannot go into detail about the incident or provide the officers name at this time. We would like to provide more but due to the sensitivity of the incident we cannot release further details. Any funds raised to assist our injured officer will be used to assist with any recovery efforts and needs they and their family will experience to come. It has been a difficult and sobering experience for many but also an eye-opening experience that shows just how much support there is during difficult times. We appreciate the outpouring of support we, the Officer, and the Officer's family have received. Words cannot even explain the debt of gratitude we owe to everyone.

Thank you all again for everything.

Back Story from our official press release: (Greenfield, WI) – At 1:36am on Sunday, August 22, 2021, a Greenfield Police Officer performed a traffic stop of a vehicle near South 35th Street and West Oklahoma Avenue. After initially stopping, the vehicle fled and crashed near South 27th Street and West Becher Street. The lone occupant of the vehicle exited and began shooting at officers. A 36 year old Greenfield Officer with 3 years of experience was hit multiple times and is in critical, but stable condition. Two other Greenfield Officers, one 32 year old with 1.5 years of experience, and the other a 22 year old with 3 years of experience, returned fire striking the suspect. The suspect, a 31 year old male from Milwaukee was pronounced deceased at the scene.

This is an ongoing investigation. The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team will be investigating the incident. The Milwaukee Police Department will be the lead agency in the investigation and all body camera / squad camera footage was turned over to them.

When we withdraw the donations:

The donations will be withdrawn by a representative of the Greenfield Police Association and will be withdrawn to the Greenfield Police Association's bank account.  The funds will then be given, likely by a check or wire transfer, to the injured officer and their family.  Gofundme would like us to inform you who specifically will be receiving the donations.  We have informed them that the investigation has not yet concluded so that information cannot be made public at this time.  With that being stated that information will eventually be made available.  When the funds are approved to be released by Gofundme, the donations will be transferred as soon as possible to help with recovery efforts.
