Endometriosis Surgery

ENDOMETRIOSIS SUCKS.
Here are the facts:
-Endometriosis is a condition where tissue (like the tissue found inside the uterus) is found outside of the uterus, which causes an inflammatory response that can turn into scar tissue.
-Endometriosis affects affects an estimated 1 in 10 women during their reproductive years (ie. usually between the ages of 15 to 49), which is approximately 176 million women in the world.
-In rare cases the Endometrium reaches the diaphragm and the inside of the lungs.
-Symptoms include: painful periods, painful ovulation, pain with sex, heavy bleeding, chronic pelvic pain, fatigue, and even infertility. Not to mention the mental health effects of a chronic pain condition...

Our girl:
Kristin is a beautiful, intelligent and hard working doctoral student of clinical psychology. Going into her 5-year program she knew finances would be tight, but saved and did what she could to prepare for the long road ahead. Now at the end of her first year she is in excruciating pain, and her doctor's advice is for another surgery to remove as much endometrium as possible. This surgery is tentatively planned for this December, though Kristin is not able to afford it. Due to her intense need, insurance, and the relationship with her doctor, she has been given a hugely discounted rate of around $2,500 for her surgery instead of the possible $8,000. Kristin is studying full time and working to make HUGE impacts within her community as well as the field of neuropsychology. Without this surgery her functionality is going to continue to decrease and her place in the doctoral cohort could be compromised. For those who know about Endometriosis, this can be a totally debilitating, relentlessly painful disease. Kristin has already undergone this surgery years ago, and therefore it has been surgically confirmed that Endometriosis is what she is suffering with. Her hope was to make it through the program before her next surgery, but it is clear that she will not be able to endure, even until next summer. Please help Kristin with a donation to make this surgery possible. With a successful surgery she would be able to stay in school, rock her practicums and internship (helping countless members of the community) and be the best mom to her pup and two kitties.
