Mike’s cancer journey

Michael is a US Army veteran, husband, father,son, brother, uncle and friend.
on Christmas Eve Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which has sadly metastasized to his liver.
Today (December 30) we spoke to his oncologist and it is an aggressive cancer and his colon and liver are covered.
Ideally we would go back up North to our family during this difficult time but financially it isn’t possible.  We have added expenses now such as childcare while at appointments and medications that are needed.  He does not have medication coverage until October through Medicare.
Mike will start chemotherapy on January 15  at Duke Cancer Center.
At this point it is purely palliative care as his cancer isn’t curable.
The money raised will go towards medical expenses that Medicare doesn’t cover as well as travel expenses to Durham as well as our mortgage.
