Colette M. Quigley's Eye Procedure

Hi, I am Colette Marissa Quigley. I am 29 years old and Autistic. My parents are running this campaing on my behalf as I am unable to convey this information. I have been diagnosed with an eye disease called Keratoconus.
Keratoconus is a progressive weaking of the cornea in which the standard procedure is an invasive and painful cornea transplant requiring a hard contact lens to be worn for the rest of my life. The cornea specialists I have seen both agree that this is not in my best interest due to my disabilties as I am totally dependant on my parents, especially my Mother, to care for me. While researching this disease my mother found that there is another procedure that is much less invasive called Collagen Crosslinking for Keratoconus. She found that Dr. Brian S. Boxer Wachler, MD invented the C3-R* Crosslinking system which is designed to stabilize Keratoconus. This procedure has a very high (99.6%) success rate yet has not been FDA approved and therefore not covered by insurance or Medicade. My parents decided in my best interest that this would be the best option for me. My mother contacted the Boxer Wachler Vision Institute in California and forwarded my medical records to be reviewed. Dr Brian agreed that I would be an excellent candidate for this procedure as did my cornea specialist Dr. Bahadur in Biloxi, MS. After little discussion my parents decided that this would be the right thing for me to insure that I didn't loose my eyesight. Borrowing the money for the procedure, airfare and hotel was not a question but paying it back is the difficult part as this had to be paid in advance. I am very happy to say that the procedure went very well and my vision has improved and continues to improve as my eyes are healing. I hope you can find it in your heart to help my parents repay the loan in a timely manner. It would mean so much that my parents would not have this extra burden in already hard times.
