Grace Patterson Elementary Safety

Tax deductible
We are asking you to help us ensure the safety of children as young as five-years-old.

Grace Patterson Elementary School in Vallejo, CA has approximately 350 students enrolled. Grade levels begin with transitional kindergarten through fifth grade (5-11 year olds).

The streets surrounding Grace Patterson Elementary School do not have sufficient traffic signs and/or lighting, which have resulted in accidents involving young children.  The community has decided to protect their kids by asking Leadership Vallejo and Emmanual Arms Community group to help them improve traffic safety around the school.

The two pictures below show one nearby bus stop with an unpainted curb.  As it is not painted red, cars often park in front of the bus stop, blocking the crosswalk and creating a hazard as it is hard to see the children as they try to cross the road. Painting the curb red and more appropriate signage would make this crosswalk safer for children.

The main crosswalk that kids use, pictured below, has very poor signage and no flashing lights, warning of pedestrians.  There are insufficient visual cues to urge drivers to slow down and be aware.

The picture below is a vehicle exit from the front of the school, which kids use as well.  There is no warning for people driving north on Porter Street that there is a school or vehicles pulling out of that exit.

Your donation will help us buy and install the necessary traffic signs and lighted crosswalks (example pictured below) to ensure children are safe and protected as they cross the street. It will help prevent the tragedies that some parents and families have already endured due to the fact that these streets lack the appropriate safety measures.

Money donated here will go to a special fund at Emmanual Arms Community group so donors can use their 501(c)(3) tax ID number.  Once the funds are collected, the money will be given to the City of Vallejo to purchase the equipment and complete the work ticket.  The City of Vallejo has agreed to match the first $2000 raised.

Leadership Vallejo Year 10, Emmanuel Arms and the student and parents of Grace Patterson Elementary school would like to thank you in advance for reading and helping us with our quest to keep young children safe.
