In Uganda, a country in Eastern Africa, about 12.3% of children are orphans. This impacts their way of getting education, safe homes, and the basic standard quality of life. These things and their costs are something we take for granted in the United States.

My name is Amaya Tonda and I am a junior at Rutland High School that hopes to be apart of social change. On June 24th, I am going to Uganda where my family originated from. Their journey was something memorable coming from a third world country. I was raised to always remember my roots, and this has led me to try and help those with lesser opportunities.

Grace Villa is an organization that attempts to provide safe homes for orphans, abandoned, and abused children. They also equip girls and women with programs that empower them and interventions that help cultivate the children's health, academic, social, and psychological well-being.

To assist with basic needs and education costs I hope that the community we are fortunate to have can come together to raise money to support those who don't have the abundance of resources we do. Please donate and if you are unable to donate, please share my gofundme to help change the lives of many at Grace Villa. Thank you!
