Thank you so much for taking the time to consider this fundraiser.
INTRODUCTIONS
My name is DR Fraley. I am GraceE's father, conservator, and guardian. GraceE is a 22 yr old special needs young lady who has recently graduated from high school. While she is technically a young adult, GraceE functions much like a child. She associates best with young children. Her communication skills aren't as proficient as most toddlers. Her vocabulary consists of barely 100 words. But she is the epidemy of joy and laughter. We're still working on teaching her to speak, helping her eat, learning to read, and working on potty training.
WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
This has been a crazy year and our work has been limited at best. Raising a special needs child has all sorts of challenges that you never really consider when you find out your pregnant. We've spent the last two decades learning, sharing, and helping other families with special needs. But there is a limit to what we can do.
Our small home has become more of a storage unit than a house. Every month we get dozens of boxes of pull-ups, wipes, gloves, supplements, etc. They sit at our front and back door until we use them up and then we get another truckload the next month. We need a better system of storage.
Like many families with special needs children, we've made several home adjustments over the years. One was to convert our garage into a therapy room for GraceE with controlled lighting, heat, air, etc. It's great, but that took away our old storage space.
We desperately need a she-shed for GraceE's stuff so we can get it out of our living room and entryways. That's where you can help!
HERE'S WHERE YOU CAN HELP
We've been looking for a shed for several years. We even received funds for a home modification, but we were told a shed didn't qualify as a home modification, so we lost the funding. We kept looking and trying to save up ourselves, but there was always more month at the end of our money.
The cost of a small shed to store GraceE's items seems to be around $4500-4800. Taking into account the fees removed for this fundraiser, we think that if we raise $5000 it will be enough to cover everything. This means that if 250 of our friends, barely 10% of my Facebook connections, would be willing to donate $20, we could get this ordered before the prices go up again. It will take about 5 weeks to build and deliver.
WHY SHOULD YOU CONTRIBUTE?
We all go through hard times. I've been teaching virtual Bible studies on The Gospel in Hard Times since this COVID outbreak. Many families were able to make home improvements. We did the best we could, but we're still overwhelmed with boxes and items necessary for GraceE's care. We just can't do it alone. So I'm asking for your help, as the body of Christ, can you spare a few dollars this month? Every bit helps so whether you can give a little or a lot, it's appreciated.
THANK YOU SO MUCH
If you've read this far, Thank you! We're honored to have so many dear friends who have helped us out in the past. It's humbling to ask for this, but as GraceE's father, I need to do what's best for her, even if that means swallowing my pride.
Please help us make this happen for her (and us). Can you help get the word out? Share this link with your Facebook friends! The more people that get involved the quicker we can make this dream a reality. Thanks again
