Grace’s Pelvic Osteotomy Journey
Donation protected
I hate to do this or to even need to do this, but I feel like it’s the easiest way for those asking how they can help us during Grace’s hip surgery process.
We have our first surgery date set for November 14th. They will be performing an open reduction pelvic osteotomy, with probable femoral shortening. She is only 4 years old. Each of Grace’s hips (femoral head) are about 3 inches above her actual hip socket. She will have two of these main surgeries, one for each side. After the first surgery, she will be in a spica cast for 6-8 weeks, then we will have the second surgery for the other side, & another 6-8 weeks in a spica. In order to care for Grace, I will be using my FMLA time from work to stay home with her, which is unpaid. On top of trips to Colorado Springs (a 2 hour drive) for these procedures, we still have our monthly bills to be paid, plus new items for transportation for Grace to be safe in the car with the casting & new things to be comfortable with a spica cast while we are home for a minimum of 12 weeks. Anything anyone can help with is much appreciated! Even if you cannot spare anything, we will gladly take the thoughts, prayers, & fast healing vibes our way for our little girl! Thank you in advance for all the love & support we’ve been receiving!
