Gracious Friends Animal Sanctuary

We are a small shelter/sanctuary in rural northern New York. We are a not for profit 501(c)3. Currently, we are located about 20 minutes from the closest township. This has made it difficult to get our name out there and raise money to help the animals we rescue. We have very few volunteers and employees due to the distance people have to travel to get to us as well as a lack of funding. We have found the perfect location to move to! In the Village of Heuvelton NY! We are raising money to purchase this building and renovate it into the perfect animal shelter for the area. We may also have the opportunity to actually start from scratch location wise and build our own building! We hope that with more room we can help even more animals and with this amazing location we can gather more volunteers. This building would really put us on the map and open Gracious Friends Animal Sanctuary up to more grant and fundraising opportunities. This also would help us meet the new regulations coming to animal shelters across the state. Of course there is always the possibility that our dream of expanding to this location may not happen right away. There are many hoops we have to jump through to make this happen but we are dedicated! If we end up having to spruce up the space we have now to meet the new regulations, this funding will make doing so much easier. After all, we must meet the new regulations in order to stay open. We hope that we can make even more friends in the process who love and care for animals as much as we do.

But what about the sanctuary animals? With the adoptable animals in the village, this opens up even more space at the sanctuary for our farm animals who need a loving and relaxing retirement. Our horses, goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, rabbits, and any other species that may possibly need our help can continue to flourish at our sanctuary location with even more room.

Every day we work to make sure the animals in our care are comfortable, clean, enriched, and happy. And even though we care for a lot of animals right now, we still have to turn away animals who need our help on a daily basis due to lack of space and funding. We are doing everything we can for as many animals as we can. Because of this, every donation goes a long way. Your contribution can help create one more kennel to save a life, one more spay to prevent overpopulation, or one more treatment to cure a deadly disease.
