Graham's Motorcycle Accident Support Fund

Donation protected
Less than a week after successfully defending his master’s thesis at the College of Charleston, our friend and colleague, Graham, was involved in a serious motorcycle accident the evening of April 25, 2019.

He sustained multiple injuries including several broken vertebrae, a shattered kneecap, broken leg, and broken wrist.  Over the past several days, he has undergone surgery to replace one vertebra and fuse three together, and another surgery to install plates and screws to repair his wrist. His leg is currently immobilized in the hope that his patella and tibia will mend without additional surgery.

Graham is currently employed at the Marine Resources Research Institute at SCDNR as an hourly research technician. As an hourly, he is not eligible for paid time off and will have no income until he can work again.  While his medical expenses will likely be covered by the driver at fault, we want to replace lost income and help cover other day-to-day expenses in the short-term so that he can focus on healing.

Graham’s recuperation will take time, but he is already recovering remarkably well due to his astoundingly positive attitude, determined spirit, excellent medical care, and unwavering support from friends and family.

We greatly appreciate donations in any amount – every little bit helps!  In addition, we will be holding a fundraiser locally in the coming weeks.

Please check back for updates on Graham’s progress and details about the event, and feel free to share this page far and wide!  Thank you!
