Grandma Jeanie’s Furnace Fund

Donation protected
11/29/22 UPDATE: I was just about to close this GoFundMe when my grandma called this morning. I thought it was all taken care of since her furnace has been working for a couple weeks… and now the motor on her furnace just went out. It will cost $1000 to repair. We used the initial money to pay for multiple parts to be replaced in the furnace… and then we put snow tires on my grandma’s car. She has wood and a couple space heaters, but she is pretty frail and tired to have her wood stove be her only source of heat. We could use some help to pay for yet another furnace emergency.

Hello. My name is Dana and I am starting this fundraiser for my sweet Grandma Jeanie. She is in her early 80s, and she really has a strong desire to live as independently as possible. We don’t know how she manages to live on less than $800 a month, but I do know she has been incredibly frugal with her money her entire life.

She is always budgeting and paying her bills first before spending the rest on gifts for her grand children and great grand children. My grandma spends her days volunteering at the Food Bank and Community Garden in Elk, Washington. And she is an active member of the Reflection Lake Association… making sure the water is clean for the community and the land/water preserved for future generations.

My grandma Jeanie NEVER asks for help, but she called to tell me her health is really declining the last few months… her furnace stopped working and needs to be replaced… and she doesn’t have wood for the winter. We are doing all we can to help her get to her appointments and get ready for winter. However, we have found that we do not have enough money in our personal savings to replace her 40 year old furnace.

A few friends mentioned that they wanted to donate to her furnace fund. I’ve never publicly asked for money in this way, and I am hoping we don’t not have to go get a credit card to pay for this unexpected family expense. A new furnace would really help my frail and aging grandma live a comfortable life in her own home.

Thank you, in advance, for your consideration in donating to this fund. I feel like there’s a lot of places you could use you money these days (especially with rising costs everywhere). We are humbled by your heartfelt care for our grandma Jeanie and amazing generosity… both big and small.
