Grandmaster Jacquet Bazemore
My brothers (Jacquet Jr. and Jared), sister (Joule') and I have created this fund in memory of our father, Grandmaster Jacquet Bazemore, who passed peacefully this Valentine's Day (2016) in his North Side home with his fiancee, Wendy.
Our wishes for this fund would be to properly lay our father to rest, but to also give back to the organization/causes that he was very passionate about.
Dad has made a significant impact in the world of martial arts. He was a World Heavyweight kickboxing legend and champion~ a pioneer of mixed martial arts. He served his country as a Marine in Vietnam and gave back to the people through his ministry. Dad used martial arts as a medium to train and teach youths how to combat street violence through the MAASV (Massive Artist Against Street Violence) school in Pittsburgh, Pa.
This has been a great loss to our family and to those who shared a special bond with our dad. His passing was unexpected. Though he was with us for a short time, his resounding presence will be felt always.
As dad would say, "Always keep your left up".
