Grandparents Cabin Fire

Hi, my name is Kayla and I am raising funds for my grandparents who recently had a fire at their cabin in Grand Lake, Co. While my grandpa was cooking at the stove he heard a noise and when he looked back where the water heater was he noticed that the curtain was on fire. He ran outside, told my grandma to call the firetrucks and got his hose as fast as he could. He tried to stop the fire but there was too much smoke. The firefighters got there quickly and were able to contain the fire. The fire stayed mostly in the kitchen, but because the cabin is so small, the smoke damaged everything. My grandpa thinks there must have been a propane leak and when the water heater turned on it sparked and caught the curtain on fire. We were happy when he called and told us they were safe and no one was hurt, but sad that the cabin will never be the same.

The cabin means the world to my grandparents as they purchased it in 1996 and did all of the work inside themselves and have made many many memories there. The cabin also means the world to our whole family, all of our favorite memories were made there and we are all so saddened that this happened.

We are trying to raise money for them to be able to try and at least gut the place out and try and rebuild what they can. As of right now, they were able to board up the side panels and any windows that may have broken in the fire, but unfortunately, that is all they can do at this point. We want to help them out by getting at least a dumpster and equipment that they could use to clean it up themselves and eventually rebuild. We want to make it clear that they do have a home that they are able to live in now, but we would like to help them rebuild the cabin that has 26 years of memories in it.
