GRANGER'S JOURNEY

Donation protected
Granger Barfield, the youngest child of Rick and Crystal Barfield, was diagnosed at the age of 8 with epilepsy. The seizures started as “absence” seizures, but this past year have progressed to more frequent “convulsive” seizures. Unfortunately, medications have not been able to get his seizures under control. Because of their severity, he has been placed on the Homebound program for school and it is not safe to leave him alone. Rescue meds are kept close by at all times. Along with epilepsy, Granger has other health issues, including a congenital heart defect, all of which are greatly affecting his quality of life.
After months of waiting, Granger has finally been accepted as a patient with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for testing, diagnosis, and treatment of his epilepsy. While the majority of his medical bills will be covered under his health insurance, the costs of travel, lodging, meals, and other incidental costs are not covered. The first step of his journey will be to travel to Rochester for 7 days of testing. Depending on the results of his diagnosis, it’s possible that Granger will require surgery. His parents have been advised that if this is the case, he will require a minimum of 30 days post observation by the staff of doctors.
We are asking for donations to help cover some of the costs going forward and for prayers that Granger will have an outcome from this journey that improves his current quality of life.
