Grant Michael Chandler Obituary

Grant Chandler passed away on September 23rd, 2023 surrounded by his family after suffering Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Grant was born in Warren, Michigan on March 20th, 1978. He graduated from Clare Highschool and then went on to serve his country in November 1996 with the United States Air Force. He served eight years of Active Duty and finished the rest of his military career in Civil Service with the Air National Guard Reserves (Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve). He was honorably discharged as a Tech Sergeant from the United States Air Force in 2015 due to an injury.

Even after grieving the loss of his ability to serve with the United States Airforce, Grant never lost his passion to serve. In recent years, Grant began serving at his church, Kensington Church. He loved being a part of the security team, ensuring his brothers and sisters in Christ could worship knowing they were safe. He also assisted with the portability team helping to make sure setup and tear down for each Sunday went smoothly. In death, he has continued to serve. Grant was able to have his organs donated through Gift of Life Michigan where he could save up to eight lives and heal an average of 100 people.

Grant also fiercely loved his family. Gracie and Nicole were the light of his life. Grant and Nicole met in 3rd Grade. Grant moved away soon after and they re-met and fell in love 2005. If you asked Grant, he’d tell you that he knew Nicole would be his wife the day he saw her in 2005. Five years later, Grant married Nicole on September, 20th, 2010. Through their 13 years of marriage, Grant always wanted a child of his own. After six years, they got their miracle baby, Gracie Mae. That little girl had her daddy wrapped around her finger from day one. More often than not, you could find some sort of nail polish on his toes, courtesy of Gracie. Many of his evenings were spent outside participating in shenanigans with her, whether it be fishing, making smores, playing yard games, or watching her jump on the trampoline. Most nights ended with literal dog piles on the couch. With Grant, Nicole, Gracie, and their two dogs Olaf and Hutch all snuggled up to watch tv.

Grant spent his week days with his work family at CSM Mechanical, where he was a Warehouse Manager. While he loved his time at CSM, his favorite part of the job was FaceTiming with his grandson in the warehouse, Declan always had smiles for his papa. Weekends were dedicated to taking Gracie to swim class, spending time with his oldest daughter, son-in-law, and his grandson, and watching sports with Nicole. Grant was a loving husband and father, an awesome papa, and a loyal friend, he will be forever missed.

Grant was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Ann Chandler, his father Gary Chandler, his grandmother Una Mae Blaylock, and his grandfather Herman Blaylock. Grant now watches over many loved ones including his wife Nicole (Cruickshank), his daughters Kayla (Joe) Rozek and Gracie, his grandson Declan Rozek, his brother Garrett (Kevin) Russell, his sisters Meghan, Mickenzie, and Haley Cutter, his sister-in-law Nancy (John) Reece, his father-in-law Bill (Dianne) Cruickshank, his mother-in-law Phyllis (Jeff) Mitchell, he also leaves behind three nieces, one nephew, and many other cherished members of the Chandler and Cruickshank families.
