Our Matriarch Needs Your Help! Please Read!

My name is Alycia Garrison, eldest grandchild of Ms. Alice "Sallie" Mae Garrison. On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, our beloved Mother/Grandmother passed away. It is with heavy hearts that we initiate this fundraiser to help cover legal fees as we seek justice for our Matriarch and to ensure that she receives the proper burial she deserves.

Sallie’s funeral was on Saturday, September 9. Since then, she has yet to be buried. Sallie’s wishes were to be buried in her community cemetery with the rest of her family (both parents, seven siblings, plethora of nieces and nephews). However, the church in which she attended all her life is blocking that, stating that she wasn’t a member at the time of her death, per their bylaws, even though she was still sending her tithes. We have evidence to counter their claim, but they still refuse.

This situation has been in local newspapers throughout Virginia and tv media outlets as well. On September 12, our family started a petition. As of today 9/22, it has reached over 14,000 signatures. Links are below for reference.

Prior to the news stories and petition, we sought out every peaceful option to resolve this matter with the church. However, we were unsuccessful.

That is why my family and I are seeking your help. We are asking for assistance with our legal fees, as we have obtained an attorney for this matter. Anything would be greatly appreciated.
