To know Grant Padley is to know someone who shines with positivity, creativity and love. It’s his superpower. Grant has always been a believer in random acts of kindness, and it is our hope that his kindness is reflected back by those that love and cherish him, as well as those who don’t know him but share in his belief. In November 2020, following his sudden collapse at home and being rushed to emergency, Grant was told he has two terminal forms of cancer: Neuroendocrine and Gastroesophageal Junction Adenocarcinoma. He is a 52-year-old single dad and caregiver to Sophia, 11, and Hudson, 9.
Nothing can adequately prepare you for a cancer diagnosis. The news came as a blindsiding and heartbreaking shock, especially to his young children and life partner, Laura. Two back surgeries left him in hospital for over a month and he is still receiving physiotherapy to learn how to walk again. Grant will further undergo invasive treatments including chemotherapy and radiation in an effort to prolong the time he has left.
Despite everything, Grant won’t allow this disease to define him. He chooses bravery, strength and relentless hope — and to teach his children what true courage and resilience really mean.
Grant is stepping back from his role as CEO of Calibre Creative , the creative agency he founded, in order to focus on his treatment. And while his talented team will continue to take on work projects, as an artist and self-employed entrepreneur, Grant’s health care costs are substantial. Let’s show Grant and his kids that they are not alone in this battle.
