Background Story
Grant Wilson, his wife, Kate and their three children, Zoe, Izzy and Jake, live on the South Coast in Kiama Downs. Grant is a well-known person in our local community because - if you know him, you already know - the kindness, generosity, humour, friendliness, determination and loving nature this man possesses. He is a warm and devoted husband to Kate, whose heart is also filled with generosity, kindness, compassion, thoughtfulness, nurture, and love which is displayed in many different ways to all those around her.

Grant is and always has been one of the most fun dads you can hang out with, and his kids are used to him hanging out with them, taking them places and doing activities with them. Grant took his three kids to the local mountain bike skills park, as he had done many times previously, to have some fun one afternoon.

The Accident

Result - C4 incomplete spinal injury - quadriplegic

His fun-loving, participative nature resulted in a freak, tragic accident that saw him choppered out in front of his family and friends and now rehabilitating with channelled determination, in a spinal unit in a hospital in Sydney. Away from his family and unable to see them due to Covid restrictions!

The future is unknown for Grant, but what his family does know is that his determination will see him home ASAP and along with elation and relief, this will also bring challenges - both mental and physical. One of the biggest of these challenges will be autonomy, mobility and accessibility.

Fundraising Goals
Grant Wilson needs a car that can be modified for driving on his return home to family. As we all understand, this will be critical for his independence, freedom and mental wellbeing along with access to work and autonomy. The Wilson's current cars have been assessed and are too old to be modified. They are now required to purchase a new vehicle to allow for specific modifications on top of other unexpected expenses related to modifications within the home environment.

Challenge:
To raise the funds to allow for the purchase of a suitable vehicle to allow for appropriate modifications in time for Grant's return.

How you can help:
If you can, please support this epic family. I can think of no other family more deserving of your generosity. Kate and Grant's closest friends initiated the idea of this GoFundMe fundraising for this vehicle - I am just the train driver but YOU are the most important part of the success of this fundraiser. Please do what you can, even if a donation is not possible, sharing amongst your own social media and word of mouth to friends to create awareness of Kate, Grant, Zoe, Izzy and Jake's current scenario will support them. Please support them.
