Gray Collegiate Academy Baseball Community,
The War Eagle baseball program is preparing to enter its 5th season since our school originated. Our athletic programs have enjoyed many successes since inception. Recently our boys basketball team was crowned the 2018 South Carolina High School League AA State Champions. Our Football, Girls Volleyball, and Cross Country teams were 2018 Region Champions. Our Cheerleaders have won several competitions this fall. It is a great time to be a War Eagle. Now it is time to focus on the upcoming 2019 Spring Baseball season. I am excited to be back in baseball as a head coach. Many of you know that success comes in many fashions and you can’t do these things alone. Our goal for the 2019 season and the seasons to come is to “Dogpile.” In order to do this and build a consistent championship contender we need to provide our players with 1st class equipment, facilities and uniforms. Plans are in the makings to have our own facility in the near future on the Gray Collegiate Campus. For now we will practice and play our games off campus at the Midlands Complex off Fish Hatchery Road in West Columbia. Equipment needed to provide a safe environment is a Hack Attack pitching machine, various protective screens for practices, tarps to cover pitchers mound and home plates, etc. These are things necessary to give our student-athletes the best instruction, development and safety for success. This is where you come into play. We have set a goal to raise $10,000. To do this, we will play a 60 inning game in January to raise this money. Our players will reach out for sponsorship of their participation in this game. Your donations to this event can come in any size. For example: sponsor a player for $1 per inning played which equals $60. Or whatever amount you wish. It is necessary for us to open this GoFundMe account now until January 7th to purchase these items for the start of practice in January.
We also want to instill in our players community involvement. In January we will be doing a kids camp and a coaches clinic at Pineview Baseball Complex. We want to donate 5% of money raised to the PAL league for the special needs children baseball program at Pineview.
