Grayson Aird's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
As many already know, Grayson Aird suffered an Acute Brain Injury (ABI) on August 11, 2018 requiring emergency treatment at Enloe Hospital in Chico, California. At this point Grayson requires specialized care and has been transferred to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center’s Acute Rehabilitation Hospital in the Bay Area where he is receiving fantastic care by a team of doctors and allied health professionals specializing in Acute Brain Injury.
This type of initial specialized care is not available in Chico creating the need for Grayson to be transferred 3 hours from home. Grayson is receiving in depth and multifaceted care with a focus on Grayson returning home in the near future. This return home will require modifications to Grayson’s home environment and the need for in-home care giving alongside extensive outpatient rehabilitation. Grayson has always been athletic and loves anything outdoors, including LaCrosse, basketball, swimming and camping. We are hopeful and focused on Grayson returning home to an environment that caters to his specialized needs and build the strength of mind and body so he can do the things he loves.
I personally met Grayson when he hadn't even turned 2 as I was a parent of a 7 year old swimmer introduced to this sport on the deck of the PV pool. Many, like me, have come to know Jim, Betsy, Grayson or Cydni as a parent of the many many swimmers lives they have touched over the years. You may have known Jim or Betsy before or during college or maybe you are one of the countless friends Grayson and Cydni have made along the way. However if you know this family, you know what a close family they are and how hard the events of the past weeks and months have been.
As Grayson's rehabilitation continues in the coming months, with medical bills, travel to and from Santa Clara, missed work etc., the financial strain is unavoidable. I hope with this Go Fund Me, we can lessen the burden and allow the family to focus on Grayson and his recovery.
We would love your support in raising the funds needed to help provide the type of care that Grayson will need now and in the future.
Grayson is currently at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center with Jim and Betsy by his side.
