Hello. My name is Paul 'Brownie' Brown and I became a below the knee amputee at the beginning of this year. This was due to being born with talipes in my right foot.
I've experienced a lifelong struggle with walking, undergone many surgeries, and was in constant pain before having my leg removed.
I have always loved sport and have tried my best to compete where I can with a strong determination for success and to better my mental and physical strength.
When I found out that I was having my amputation in December, I really thought my days of playing sport were over. That is until I found para ice hockey!
This amazing sport has changed my life dramatically and has helped my mental, and physical health too.
I've met people from all sorts of backgrounds and all with a story to tell.
As my journey with the Sheffield Steelkings has progressed over the last 10 months, with the help of new friends at the club to help me throught my journey on and off the ice, I have been given an amazing opportunity!
I have been asked to represent Great Britain in the next IPC Pool-B tournament, which will take place in norway in april !
This is an amazing, life changing opportunity for me, and I would love to go and represent my country again.
I'm hoping that with help from my friends and family, I can get help to raise the funds I need.
Representing my country in para ice hockey is something I love to do.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you all for your support!
