Green Oaks Creek Farm - Fire Relief Fund
Donation protected
On Tuesday, August 18th the CZU August Lightening Complex Fire swept through Green Oaks Creek Farm upending the lives of Matthew and Alysia, the dedicated farmers who tended that land. All farm operations at Green Oaks Creek will be suspended indefinitely due to the extensive damage and loss of infrastructure.
Matthew and Alysia lost their barn, irrigation equipment, storage shed containing personal belongings, farming tools, water tanks and sadly, much more. Additionally they were 12 weeks into a 23 week CSA (community-supported agriculture subscription) and a booming farmer's market season.
Let's help them get back on their feet so they can keep growing, organic, real, flavorful food for our community.
A personal note from Matthew and Alysia:
We are so grateful to have had the honor to grow food for the community these past 4 years. It was here that we cut our teeth as young farmers with 32 horsepower and some elbow grease. We will never forget, as long as we live all the mystery, struggle, glory, and transcendence we found while farming at Green Oaks. Although we are sad to see our time cut so painfully short, there is no doubt we hustled and left it all out in the field. We have been humbled by the awesome power of nature during our bountiful tenure, this has only deepened our conviction about the realities of climate change. This is only the beginning.
Remember, this land does not belong to us. The Amah Mutsun Tribal Band never ceded this territory. May they be the future stewards of their ancestral land always and forever. May we all have the opportunity to work hard and make the world a better place. The work goes on, it never ends, Black Lives Matter. Green Oaks Creek, you will always have our hearts. We did our best.
