Greengate School Physical Education

Hi, my name is Andrew Hamiter and I am the physical education instructor for the Greengate School for Dyslexia. The Greengate School for Dyslexia is a private school located in Huntsville Alabama that provides individualized attention to students who struggle academically due to their challenges with word pronunciation, spelling, writing, and other language skills. Often times, students with dyslexia might also struggle with skills related to physical education because dyslexia can affect memory, organization, comprehending directions, and performing cross-curriculum instruction. Quality physical education provides students with a diverse curriculum that incorporates technology, math, science, reading, and writing. A quality physical education program is supported with proper equipment such as footballs, bats, balls, hula hoops, floor hockey sticks, golf putters, racquets, and cones just to name a few things. A quality physical education program relies on having adequate equipment to meet the needs of their students, as a vehicle for multi-sensory cross-curriculum learning. The physical education department at Greengate School is setting a goal of $2,000 to acquire the basic equipment inventory needed to provide students with an enriched physical education experience. At Greengate School, teachers and administrators do not receive state funding for the materials and equipment for their students, and students currently have access to limited equipment that is in many stages of disrepair. Every student deserves to have access to their own equipment that they can be proud of. We rely on members of the community, like you, to help our school meet its financial goals, so that we can acquire the proper physical education equipment that every child deserves.
