Greenville Strays Getting Fixed!
Donation protected
Hello! Back in Mid-August, my neighbors alerted me to a momma stray cat and her three kittens hanging around the vacant property next door to me. I immediately made it my mission to rescue all 4 cats. I was able to catch two of the kittens within a day. Mocha and Storm are part of our family now and we are working hard on getting them to be more social.
The momma cat and third kitten have been far more difficult to catch and I had all but given up when someone posted a photo in the town group on Facebook asking if anyone knew anything about this cat hanging around. I knew right away that it was momma cat. Through that post, I was able to connect with a wonderful woman, Christine, who was able to loan me a trap to catch momma and kitten three. It took a few weeks, but FINALLY, I trapped kitten on September 25th and momma a couple days later on the 27th! Christine is holding them at her home until their appointment to be fixed.
Both momma and kitten (now being called Cloudy since we had to give it a name when making appointment) are going to the Community Cat Center on Tuesday, October 3rd to get fixed, ear snipped, dewormed, flea and tick treatment, etc. There is no cost but they do accept donations.
After their appointment, they will come home with me to recover and then I'm at a crossroads as to what to do with them. Christine thinks there might be hope that they can be socialized despite that they are feral. They have been good under her care and although they are very frightened, they are not aggressive. I hate to put them back outside to face the harsh elements if they can find a good home with someone willing to socialize them. I'll have to see how they do during their recovery and make a decision at that point, but I'm making sure their ear gets snipped incase they do need to go back out.
I'm raising this money so that I can make a donation to the Community Cat Center, make a donation to Christine who has been kind enough to hold them, provide them with food, litter and shelter. She spends a crazy amount of trapping feral cats and does amazing work. A small amount will just be for the cost of me to care for them while they recover; the extra food, litter, etc. I've already taken on a huge extra cost with the two kittens I'm keeping and having to get them fixed and to the vet, so caring for two more is just... a lot.
Thank you so much!
