Greg’s Recovery Fund
Donation protected
On Friday, March 2nd, Greg was participating in his Akedo class at the American College of Mixed Martial Arts when he collapsed - officially diagnosed as sudden cardiac arrest.
Lisa Andrada was the first person to his side as she was across the room and saw his collapse. His wife and friends proceeded to call 911 and start CPR as he had stopped breathing and had no heartbeat.
Greg was transported to the Valley Medical Hospital where a team of (AWESOME) doctors, nurses, and respiratory therapists worked around the clock to help him. He has gone through 2 rounds of induced hypothermia, meant to help preserve his neurological functions, days (that seemed like years) on a ventilator, ex-rays, CAT scans, shots on shots, IVs, and an angiogram.
The angiogram revealed that he has three damaged arteries in his heart that need to be fixed.
He has been transferred to a different hospital in Seattle where he is scheduled to undergo Triple Bypass surgery. The recovery time for this type of surgery generally is about 3 months.
One of the reasons we wanted to make this page was that we thought it would be an awesome place for our Dad's friends and family to leave him messages and well wishes. If you know our Dad, you know how invested he is to the people he loves and I know it would just make this process a tiny bit better for him if he could read that the people that he cares about are thinking about him.
If you choose to donate, your money will be directly used for Greg's medical bills. He is just begining his road to recovery and will surely have plenty of consultations, follow up appointments, and cardiac and physical rehabilitation.
This gofundme account has been created by his family. Luckily we all live semi-close by to where our parents home is in Orting.
