Greg Boros Memorial & Family Expenses Fund
Donation protected
Greg Boros (age 35) of Fairfax, Virginia, joined his Savior in Heaven on Saturday, December 19, 2020. Following a life devoted to Jesus and a career spent as a Christian missionary, Greg passed away at home surrounded by his family. Greg is survived by his wife, Elise (age 35), and son, Paul (age 6).
Greg's history of medical issues that ultimately culminated in him passing this week began (without our knowledge) at the beginning of Greg's life. Greg was born with a rare genetic mutation that caused his heart to slowly fail. The first evidence of this anomaly occurred in the form of a cardiac arrest during Greg's senior year of college (age 21), when he was biking across campus at Pennsylvania State University in 2006. Through the intervention of emergency workers called to the site, Greg was resuscitated and brought back from death. Unfortunately, this was only the beginning of Greg's lifelong medical trials.
In the following years, Greg's cardiac condition continued to deteriorate while puzzling some of the country's best doctors. Greg underwent multiple procedures and an open-heart surgery that finally led to a correct diagnosis and 11 months spent waiting for a heart transplant. On the brink of death, Greg was matched with a donor and underwent a complex and dangerous surgery to receive his new heart on Thanksgiving Day 2010. Greg survived the transplant and continued his career in Christian missionary work.
In the ensuing years, Greg faced multiple severe bouts with his health, as his newly transplanted heart faced a number of complications that were routinely battled by his tremendous medical team. However, as 2020 waned, so did Greg's health. It became increasingly obvious that the day he and his family had feared was coming as his transplanted heart gave out. Despite a life of personal and physical turmoil, Greg never lost his faith, never stopped loving and growing in his relationships with his family, and never stopped furthering God's kingdom with his ministry.
Those who knew Greg know that it is impossible to overstate the impact he had on those he met on this side of Heaven. His brilliant mind, fiery wit, unmatched humor, and unending love and care underscore the man who meant so incredibly much to so very many people. While our hearts are broken by his untimely departure from this world, those who love Jesus can take comfort in knowing that we will see Greg again in heaven.
This fundraiser has been created to deliver financial support to Greg's surviving and dearly loved family: Elise and Paul. The family faces the most challenging season of their lives in the days and years ahead. This fundraiser has been created with the hope of partially alleviating the very serious and long-lasting financial realities that Greg's passing has brought about for the family. As Elise and Paul continue to grieve and begin the long process of healing, we hope this fundraiser can address some of their immediate financial needs.
Note that this fundraiser is not affiliated with any organization, nor will donations be tax deductible. All donations will go directly to Elise and Paul.
