Greg Emick

Greg Emick, a 25-year firefighter and past-Captain with the Williamstown Fire Company #1, was recently diagnosed with Rosai-Dorfman Disease (RDD). Though discovered in 1969, not much is known or understood about this disease. However, we do know the effects it has on the body. RDD causes the body to over-produce white blood cells. This causes the cells to attack different systems of the body, the lymphatic system being the most prevalently attacked. It develops, acts, and is treated similar to cancer. Because of this, Greg will undergo chemotherapy treatment because of how many systems RDD has impacted in his body.

Only 1 in 200,000 people in the US will be diagnosed with RDD. To complicate matters, Greg developed a complication from RDD that affects only 5% of RDD patients. Greg's RDD began attacking tissue behind his eyes. Because of how rare this particular complication, of a particularly rare disease, occurs, Greg underwent two rounds of testing to confirm the diagnosis.

Greg has served his community for over 25 years, both in the capacity as firefighter and through his service as an Emergency Medical Technician with the Monroe Township EMS and the Gloucester County EMS. He is a loving father, a devoted husband, and a valued friend. We are asking for donations to the family to help in any manner they see fit.
