Greg Huff Medical and Financial Expenses
I am Jen Esposto, Greg’s sister. On Thursday, July 16th, Greg was at home on some scaffolding, about 12 feet in the air, painting his home. The scaffolding somehow broke and Greg fell to the concrete below him. A neighbor heard the crash and rushed across the street to find Greg unconscious face down. My nephews, Garett (11) and Gregory (12), were the only ones home at the time. Gregory called 911 while the neighbor was able to get Greg to wake up. He was rushed to UPMC Presby and has been his home ever since. Greg has suffered a split lip with 8 stitches, a broken nose, a broken scapula (shoulder blade), 4 broken ribs on one side, 5 broken ribs on the other, 2 broken wrists, and 2 broken arms. Both wrists have needed plates, rods, screws, etc. . . One wrist will require surgery again to have some of that hardware removed. Greg’s left arm had a compound break (the bone broke through the skin). He now has had 4 surgeries on his left arm and will have his 5thsurgery tomorrow. There have been numerous wound vacs placed in this arm to collect fluid that is rushing to the wound. There is also a lotof swelling. Until the fluid recedes and swelling goes down, the surgeon is not able to close this wound. Greg’s muscle in his arm is in danger of dying and he could lose his arm. We are hopeful with tomorrow’s surgery that the swelling has gone down and the wound vac is able to come out so that his wound may be closed.
I started this page due to the financial hardship that Greg and his wife Nikki are/are going to be put in. Nikki has not left Greg’s side and is not able to work. Their 19 year old daughter Kallee has taken off work and is taking care of Gregory and Garett during this time so that Nikki can be at the hospital with Greg day and night. Although Greg has sick time, it is going to run out soon. They have a long road ahead of them! Together, they will get through it, we will get through it. I was just hoping to make it a little easier on them!
Any little amount helps!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
