Greg Lowery Medical Fund

Hi, my name is Alison Shofner. I am starting this go fund me to benefit my very dear friends Greg & Kay Lowery. Greg suffered a stroke in 2014 and has struggled to regain use of his left side. He has qualified for a life changing procedure that insurance does not cover. I hope to raise $20,000 to make this possible. I know many of you know and love Kay & Greg. Any amount you are willing to donate would be appreciated. Please share this to reach as many people as possible. Many hands make light work! I asked him to share his story which is included below.

MY STROKE JOURNEY

On May 7, 2014, I found myself having extreme difficulty getting off the couch to go to the bathroom. It was about 10:00 pm and I began crawling on the floor after I went to my knees while trying to walk. I ended up calling for my wife, Kay to call 911. I was having a stroke. I was rushed to Kettering Hospital but was too late to receive the shot to break up the vein and artery clogging.

I was getting a huge wakeup call in life and remembered I stopped taking blood pressure medicine a couple of months prior. My life would be changed forever and frankly I was lucky to be alive.

I have been in and out of hospitals and rehab centers to try to learn to walk again and use my left arm and left leg properly. I suffer from extreme clonus and spasticity and am unable to walk because of it.

While at a doctors appointment, I was made aware of a stem cell procedure in Florida to correct my situation with a 95% success rate. I have applied for the procedure and was told that I am a viable candidate and was accepted into the program. I am currently going through the pre-op protocol and getting prepared for the operation on September 12, 2023.

When learning about the $20,000.00 cost for everything to make this happen, I was stopped in my tracks. We need help and would be extremely appreciative to receive financial help for this life-changing operation.
