Greg Sill passed unexpectedly on March 26, 2021 at the age of 48 years and 5 days. During his approximately 420,000 hours on this earth, he impacted people throughout the world. Greg was a kind hearted, genuine, loving, and charismatic gentleman.
As a teacher, Greg aimed to bring humanity to his history lessons and teach his students about positivity and positive actions. His love for education was evident in his amazing and interactive lessons. He had a special place in his heart for his English Language Learners, and went out of his way to make sure they were involved and obtained as much knowledge as possible. His classroom is a testament to his passion, he filled it with artifacts from his travels to bring history to life.
As a friend and colleague, Greg could be your biggest cheerleader and supporter. He encouraged others to be the best they could be and strive to reach their dreams. He always had a smile on his face, that quickly put you at ease and made you feel comfortable. Upon his departure, I have received messages throughout the world of people he has met and how he left a positive impact in their lives. Sometimes just by providing a kind smile, genuine conversation, or providing support. He was truly a special being.
As a family man, words cannot describe the impact he had. As a son, brother, uncle, and nephew, he was a loving man and aimed to make every moment count. He wanted to make sure you knew you were loved and would do anything for his family. He loved having the family together and made sure he spent time with each of them. As a husband and father to three girls, he was indescribable. He loved us immensely and would yell it from the rooftops if he could. He was our supporter, our cheerleader, always bringing positivity and hope in our home. I always said it took a special man to be a girl dad, and Greg showed me every day that he was. His impact on the girls is evident, he has raised happy, empathetic, life loving young women.
As my partner for 30 years, he made me feel like the most special girl on earth, not a day went by that I questioned his love for me. I was as madly in love with him now, as I was when I met him at 16. He lived life to the fullest, always wanting to soak up every second of life. Perhaps, he knew his time here was limited.
In order to continue to have the world experience the goodness that is Greg Sill, I have created this memorial fund. The goal is to use the funds used to give to provide scholarships to students who exemplify the Greg Sill life: goodness, positivity, and kindness. In addition, funds will be donated to charitable organizations. I hope this fund continues for many years. The reason for this fund is that Greg and I spoke often of our lives in the next few years and we wanted to ensure that philanthropy was an integral part. With his passing, this will set us back a bit, but I am hoping with donations we can start to fulfill his dream of helping others.
Greg Sill was here for a short time, but if you were lucky enough to know him then you know the light that has been taken from this world. My goal is to make sure that his name continues to be spoken, and that it bring as much joy as the person he was.
