Greg Spurgeon: moving expenses, medical update
Donation protected
Dear friends, family and classmates of Greg Spurgeon.
Greg has an opportunity to move to a lovely home in the same mobile home park where his parent’s lived. Meadow Lane, Ames, Iowa. This move will improve his quality of life considerably. His funds are limited due to the accident he suffered several years ago. Therefore, I’m asking for contributions on his behalf to pay for the move.
Greg suffered a tragic accident several years ago, which required amputation of part of his right leg, just below the knee. The area of the amputation, coupled with the catastrophic nature of the accident, made surgery very challenging. He has a prothesis and is remarkably independent. Unfortunately, due to amputation being so close to the knee, he is not healing as hoped. Causing debilitating pain and mobility issues.
Surgeons at Iowa City will be performing surgery to remove more of the leg above the knee. They believe this will help with a cleaner healing process and minimize the pain. He will require in-home health care for approximately 3 months.
He is moving from a 1-bedroom apartment to a larger home. Advantages include having a yard for his dog, Olie, and space for a home health care worker to do their job. More sunlight, and central location to services and grocery stores are an added plus.
Will you please consider a gift to help Greg with this next step of his journey? The move will take place on Friday, May 17. The movers are contracted to do all the packing, moving and unpacking. The estimate is $2,800. Your donations will make this happen! Thank you in advance for your generosity.
