Dear Friends
On November 14th, we lost our colleague and friend, Dr. Greg Tatum, following a difficult battle with colon cancer. Greg dedicated more than 20 years to caring for children with heart disease. Pediatric cardiology was his passion -- he took immense pride in doing his job, and he did it so well. In the words of his wife, Jen, "being a doctor was not just a job to him; it was part of his identity and his passion." Greg traveled the world on medical mission trips providing care for children without access to cutting-edge medicine, often using his own vacation time. Even while enduring chemotherapy with liver failure, Greg continued to work, reading echoes remotely on days when he was too sick to read from the echo lab. Greg was an incredible friend and colleague and cared deeply for the people who worked alongside him - he was not about to let us down even in his darkest hour.
Although passionate about his work, Greg was also a devoted husband to his wife Jen, and father to his two sons, Jack and Sam. Before Greg passed, we asked him what we could do to ease his suffering. His most significant concern was providing for his family. He worried about Jack and Sam and the challenges they would face. We promised to take care of them in his absence. Today we're following through on that promise by raising money to contribute to a college fund for Jack and Sam. Please consider donating in memory of our colleague and friend, Dr. Greg Tatum, a truly exceptional person who devoted his adult life to caring for children with heart disease worldwide.
