Greg Yarnik’s Eternal Reefs Memorial

I’m Heidi Hanson, Greg’s widow, asking for assistance in making his wishes for distribution of his remains a reality. Greg was in excellent health until on May 2, 2023 we found out he was not. He had only retired ELEVEN months earlier after 37 years at the MWRD.

Greg’s disease progressed rapidly and brutally. Greg took every chemo treatment valiantly including the horrific side effects that always followed.

Greg lived a life devoted to leaving the planet healthier than when he arrived. He was passionate about the condition of our oceans and the marine life they sustain. Greg expressed his desire to have his remains become part of Eternal Reefs in Florida. Eternal Reefs is a permanent memorial that places the cremated remains in the ocean and creates new life as a reef habitat for fish, turtles and other forms of sea life including Greg’s favorite, octopi.
